Faith Matters

All Christians are "called" by God - we are called to enjoy his love, called to love God in return and to serve God in our lives. It is currently a Diocesan priority that all Christians should be encouraged and enabled to fulfil their calling in the widest possible sense.
Being Called

Another way of describing our "calling" to talk about "vocation" (this word comes from the Latin word vocare meaning "to call"). Vocation doesn't just apply to those people who are called to authorised forms of ministry, or who have jobs in the medical profession or teaching, but all Christians have a vocation which we need to discover and fulfil.

Explore these pages for a wide variety of resources which are designed to help meet this Diocesan priority.

We have around twelve local vocations representatives whose task is to assist and encourage those who may be looking for information and the next steps ahead.

The Handbook makes reference to a huge number of books, courses, websites and organisations which can help people explore their Christian calling.

The short course "Christian Calling" can be used by any group of Christians who want to explore their calling together - it is deliberately designed to be flexible and easy-to-use.
Occasional or annual events relating to Christian calling will be advertised here.
