125 years of service, worship and mission is something for the diocese to celebrate this year. The Partners in Community Action Initiative rightly takes its place as one of the highlights of those celebrations. Since its inception. PICA working alongside the Church Urban Fund, has been able to distribute nearly £2 million to social action groups that have helped local people tackle local issues.
From youth groups and the provision of detached youth workers, children’s groups by the dozen, luncheon clubs, furniture schemes to asylum seekers support. The list is endless but there is still much to do and the church working at the heart of the community is well-placed to deliver new initiatives in the years to come.
In this celebratory year, I invite you to share in our PICA appeal, and in doing so, give thanks for the way God has blessed us so much as a diocese and indeed called us to share his compassion for the world into the future
