Faith Matters

We use the word "vocation" to describe a call from God to follow His Son Jesus Christ in the way he shows us in the gospels.

We have made it one of our priorities that all people within this Diocese should be encouraged and enabled to fulfil their calling in the widest possible sense.

Vocations

The "call" can come to us in many different ways and there may come a time when seems right to share and explore some of these thoughts and questions with others.

A good starting point will always be to talk to a member of your local clergy but at some stage it may be appropriate to make contact with one of our Diocesan Vocations team who are tasked to assist and encourage those who may exploring and trying to make sense out of all these thoughts.

The team is passionate about helping people to understand and respond to the call of God, so that their gifts can be used in the service of the Church and the Kingdom.

Each one of us is invited into a relationship with God. In this sense each one of us has a vocation. The principal vocation of every Christian is to try to follow Christ more closely. It is through following him, and reflecting on his word, that we come to a deeper understanding of what he may be asking of us in our lives, either just at the moment, or in the long term.
