The Vocations Team was delighted to be invited to have a stall at the Local Ministry Development Network Event on 20th June.

Local Ministry Development Teams are important places where people get more involved in the life of their churches, and often find themselves being called to do new things, so it seemed a good place to meet people – and it was.

Our stall was called ‘I know the plans I have for you’ – wise words from the prophet Jeremiah – and we filled it with prayer resources and links to information for anyone wanting to find out more about what God might be doing in them and with them.

But our main aim was to talk with people, to listen, to encourage and to support. So we had a team of helpers including priests, curates, readers, readers-in-training and a youth worker, and we were busy, having some great conversations with all kinds of people.

We had a prayer station which picked up on Jesus’ call: ‘come, follow me and I will make you fish for people’, where people could put their prayers for their church, for individuals or for themselves, on fishes which we caught in our prayer net. The DDO team has been praying with the fish in the week that followed the event.

A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped us on the day, and to everyone who shared with us. If you want any further conversation or support about calling, please do get in touch with anyone in the DDO team –
