What's On - POSTPONED: ‘Buildings for Mission’ Conference NEW DATE TO BE CONFIRMED
Location: St Michaels and All Angels at Houghton le Spring
POSTPONED FROM 29 OCTOBER
- NEW DATE TO BE CONFIRMED.
A date for your diary: Monday 29th October - a practical conference to help you take a fresh look at your church building.
Following the successful ‘Crossing the Threshold’ event in 2010, this will be Inspired North East’s second major conference - a joint event between Durham and Newcastle Dioceses and co-hosted with the Centre for Christianity and Culture at the University of York (www.christianityandculture.org.uk).
With input from national and regional experts and practitioners, the event is aimed at helping clergy, lay leaders, architects and others to think creatively about the future of church buildings.
The venue for the event is St Michaels and All Angels at Houghton le Spring - itself a very interesting historic building imaginatively re-ordered in recent years, exemplifying the ‘Buildings for Mission’ conference theme.
Topics to be covered include ‘Buildings for Ministry and Mission’, ‘Understanding your building’s past and caring for its future’, ‘Seeing your building’s potential’ and ‘Tools for Action’, including Community Audits, Statements of Significance and Need, and fundraising.
There will also be case studies and group discussion sessions.
