Vacancy: Bishop's Chaplain

The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time Chaplain to this senior role, to work alongside her and offer personal, spiritual, research, and administrative support.

This is a multifaceted, constantly changing, senior post. Responsibilities involve, but are not limited to:

  • sharing and promoting the Bishop’s vision for the diocese, including a role in the implementation of strategy
  • being a sounding board on all sorts of issues, and undertaking research and the preparation of briefing materials
  • supporting the Bishop in the pastoral care of clergy
  • representing the Bishop in a range of settings
  • proactive management of a variety of meetings and relationships
  • working with others to resource and support the liturgical role of the Bishop

This post is subject to an occupational requirement that the holder be a clerk in holy orders of the Church of England under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
