Illuminating Stories: Explore at St Nicholas Cathedral
28/09/2012
This Autumn the North East Centre for Lifelong Learning (NECLL), a collaboration between Sunderland and Newcastle universities, joins with St Nicholas' Cathedral to illuminate the cathedral – not with electric light but in other ways.
As part of the Illuminating Stories project, expert tutors from NECLL’s Explore programme will present a series of talks and workshops from 18 October to 24 November.
There will be a creative workshop to respond to the cathedral in words and pictures, and a series of talks on historical elements like Anglo-Saxon ornament and Iron Age artwork, and on figures connected with the cathedral such as Bewick, Avison and Collingwood.
To participate in these events you will need to be a member of Explore (see explore.sunderland.ac.uk); one monthly payment gives you access to Illuminating Stories and to all of the regular talks and courses on the Explore programme; all of which take place in central Newcastle.
Please contact NECLL’s General Office on 0191 515 2800 or see full details at explore.sunderland.ac.uk.
