Google Hit for Tweedmouth’s ‘Modern Evening Service’
23/10/2012
A ‘Vision Day’ last January has propelled Tweedmouth Parish Church to the top rank of Google’s worldwide website listings.
“We identified one of our church priorities as deeper discipleship, so people can go deeper in worship and there can be more depth of teaching in the sermon,” explains Vicar of Tweedmouth, Spittal and Scremerston the Revd Matthew Knox.
On the second Sunday of the month at six o’clock, Tweedmouth’s ‘Modern Evening Service’ is based on the simple liturgy of a service of the Word. It begins with a block of modern worship songs, continues with a meatier sermon than time allows in the morning, a creed and some prayers and then a song or two to end.
Internet users can go to the parish website (www.potss.co.uk – it stands for Parish Of Tweedmouth, Spittal and Scremerston) to preview each month’s songs and the sermon texts. And so popular is the ‘Modern Evening Service’ that a Google search for this title on the World Wide Web brings up www.potss.co.uk at the top of the list.
“It’s amazing to see our little website up there at the top,” says Matthew. “We’ve only just started this modern evening service and it’s a website I built for free.”
Other new initiatives in the parishes include Creative Church in Spittal, where families come together for crafts, a short service, and food; a new Junior Church in Tweedmouth; and a new After School Club in Scremerston.
