Noticeboard
“This is the Gospel of Jesus…” Pass it on! Rocks and Breakers is a short presentation of St Mark’s Gospel, with a fresh translation. The book also has the Gospel spoken on two CDs, so that people can listen as well as read. Over the last year it has been successfully used as the basis for studygroups in different parts of the country. It is short, free from jargon, and original. Now it is being made available as a “PASS-ME-ON” book. You can get a copy without paying for it! But there is a condition. You keep it for no more than a fortnight; you read it, listen to the CDs, and then you pass it on to someone else. They in turn read it, listen to the CDs and then pass it on… If by any chance you actually want to have a copy of “Rocks and Breakers” to keep, you can place an order via Email (the address is on the back of the book). To be part of the ”PASS-ME-ON” book scheme outlined above, e-mail Richard Ferguson on r.ferguson1@btinternet.com Also:Experience Mark’s dramatic Gospel presented live: Bookings for 2010 now being taken. Obituaries
Caroline Dickinson – RIP
Caroline Dickinson, who was head teacher at Ellingham First School for eight years and briefly at Morpeth's All Saints First, died last month following a 16-month battle against lymphoma.
Margaret Nicholson, Director of Education for the Diocese, said: "Caroline died in St Oswald's Hospice with her family by her side. She had borne her illness with great fortitude and with unshakeable faith in the eternal purposes and love of God. She made a substantial contribution to school and diocesan life over 14 years and the positive impact she had on so many lives will be both deep and long lasting. Caroline will be greatly missed as a dear friend and most highly valued colleague." Caroline Dickinson had four daughters, and one son, and daughter Emily, 23, paid tribute to her inspirational mother in the local press.
"It was never an option to give into to her illness, she fought it without ceasing the whole time and she has proved an inspiration to everyone around her, not just us but everyone who came into contact with her."
When Caroline retired from her job, the Newcastle Diocesan Board of Education wrote to thank her for the quality of her work and her professionalism, as well as the tremendous contribution she had made to the communities served by the schools where she taught as well as the care and concern she showed in many practical ways.
