St Oswald's Heavenfield Pilgrimage 2009: This year’s Pilgrimage will take place on Saturday August 1. The opening worship will begin at Hexham Abbey at 11.15 am ., and the pilgrims will then walk via St John Lee, where there will be a short act of worship and timefor a picnic . Tea/ coffee will be provided. Then it will be on to St Oswald’s Heavenfield arriving for the closing act of worship at 4 pm followed by tea. The Council of Christians and Jews, North-East Branch, will meet at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday July 2 at the Reform Synagogue. Anyone is welcome to join us - there's no charge, but donations are appreciated – and refreshments are served. Our guests are the girls' choir members of the Anglican Cathedral in Newcastle under their Director, George Richford and they are going to present music that the Christians sing to the texts of the Jewish scriptures (the 'Old Testament' to the Christians.) The Synagogue is in 'the Croft' which is at the top of Salters Road in Newcastle (the A-Z p. 54; 3C.) Fr. Leonard Skinner.
The Family Friendly Churches Trust is running an Advanced Multimedia PowerPoint Day on July 18, starting at 10:30 at Ambleside Parish Centre in Cumbria. The day is designed for people who have experience of using PowerPoint and want to develop their skills in using music, audio and video. The course will teach how to use video, music and sound seamlessly in PowerPoint and also how to edit video and sound so that you get exactly the clip that you want. There is a fee of £30 for the day and places are limited. We can provide laptops (occasionally one per 2 people) or you can bring your own (please check the spec). St Peter the Fisherman Church, Craster, will be holding their annual church fete by the harbour on Saturday August 15. Refreshments all day, and stalls from 10.30 a.m. until 4.00, including produce, tombola, cakes, plants, books, kippers and bric-a-brac. Proceeds in aid of church funds.
