The Council of Christians and Jews (North East branch)
invite you to the Orthodox Synangogue in Graham Park Road, Newcastle, at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday June 10. Professor Graham Philip of Durham University Department of Archaeology will give an account of a 'dig' which took place at Tell Esh Shuna in the Jordan Valley. Although this goes back to pre-biblical times, he is interested to show how what is 'dug up' can still give a picture of the life of a community. There is no charge for our meeting, but a donation is welcome. Refreshments will be served. Fr. Leonard Skinner

Faith in Maintenance Training Day,
10am to 4pm, Saturday July 25, St George's Church, Jesmond: Churchwardens are invited to attend a training day that aims to assist volunteers who look after 'Historic Places of Worship'. This day will give some practical skills to those who have responsibilities for the care of church buildings. You will be helped to recognise common problems, tackle straightforward maintenance tasks, understand Quinquennial Inspection reports, and know when specialist help is needed. Everyone who attends the course will receive a free copy of the Good Maintenance Guide. Churchwardens who have attended previous training days say that they are very helpful and well worth attending.
