Notices (March 2009)

Stayling Alive is back!
"Staying Alive" is here for its third year, writes Simon White, and like last year we are going to be doing a number of ‘Bless the Community” projects. We are hoping this year to be in Bamburgh, Amble, Alnwick, Seahouses, Beadnel, Belford and possibly some other locations too. We have that fab band “RE Born” playing for us again, and the worship looks like it will be even better than last year!

Is that possible? Well why not come and try it out? Don't worry if you have nobody to come with, we will allocate you to a team when you arrive, and many people came on their own and make loads of friends. Take a peek at the website and download the application form if you’re interested. Hurry, though, because when all the places are gone they’re GONE! See you all then. Dates are 30th July-2nd August. You can camp or stay in the hostel,it's up to you! Web page at   http://www.newcastle.anglican.org/youth/staying-alive.aspx

Back to Church Sunday

“It was an opportunity for all of us to rediscover what it means to belong to church,” one of many positive comments made by the 80+ parishes who signed up to ‘Back to Church Sunday’ in Newcastle Diocese in 2008.

‘Back to Church Sunday’ is an opportunity for parishes to reach out to people in the wider community. An idea launched in Manchester Diocese five years ago which has since spread throughout the Church of England. Congregation members invite friends, family members and neighbours to a ‘Back to Church’ service – people who have had some experience of church whether as children or attended special events such as baptisms, weddings or funerals or perhaps know very little about Church but would value an opportunity to explore what the Church has to offer.

If your parish was involved in 2008 or would like to sign up to this practical piece of mission for the first time this year – ensure that Sunday 27th September 2009 is in your diary now.
