Faith and Life
The next course starts on September 24 and runs until June 2010 with substantial breaks, but, who is ‘Faith and Life’ for?
The guide gives the following advice: “Applicants have to obtain the signatures of their clergy, and we try to avoid having more than three people from the same church in any course group. But otherwise no qualifications are set for entry. Each group, therefore, is simply a collection of people who have chosen to do the course at a particular venue. Consequently, in any one group there are likely to be people with different levels of background knowledge, different lengths and depths of experience in the Christian life, and different reasons for doing the course.
“Some will be doing it as an end in itself; others will be doing it because they are hoping it may lead to further training (e.g. as a Reader, or a member of a Local Ministry Team). So people will be looking for different things from the course. A key to success is the development of the group’s communal life”.
So, Faith and Life is suitable for
- People who are ready to explore faith with Christians of a good variety of other viewpoints.
- People who need something more after confirmation class or an introduction-to-the-faith course.
- People who want to explore their vocation in general.
- People who are ready to ‘spread their wings’ to engage with the local community as a person of faith.
- People who are ready to experience the church beyond their own parish.

Church Urban Fund
For 21 years the Church Urban Fund has supported churches in the most deprived communities in England to deliver practical social action. Now we are launching our response to the recession – Seeds of Hope. We aim to double the number of people we can help through local projects.
At a time of economic uncertainty, projects like these are vital in helping people to turn their lives around, restoring their dignity and a sense of purpose for the future. These projects are planting seeds of hope into people’s lives.
The first Sunday in June marks the beginning of our campaign, when we are asking everyone to pray for the most marginalised in our society, to act by using our CUF Sunday resources and to give by taking a special collection to enable more practical action to take place. Read on to see what difference you can make:
Please help your church join in this campaign by ordering your CUF Sunday resources now.
