Clergy and Schools

The Clergy and RE website http://www.culham.ac.uk/care/index.php is designed for clergy who go into schools. You will find lots of useful information together with a collection of video clips from a wide range of people already engaged in this work.  Updated information is given about inspection which should be read in conjunction with the Inspection pages on our school website.  Clergy could encourage school staff and governors to access this useful resource as a starting point for developing successful partnerships.

Supporting Christians in Education is a publication designed for church leaders and encourages them to support the minitstry of education. It paints a vision of Christian involvement which takes seriously the nature of education in Britain. It offers a theological rationale for a Christian contribution that is both distinctive and inclusive. Most importantly there is a host of practical suggestions for how churches can become more involved, both directly and through encouraging and supporting the many Christians who work in education in so many different roles.

The Diocesan Education Department has sent copies to all parishes having a Church School in them via PCC secretaries.  Others may obtain this excellent publcation from Brian Hedley, Assistant Director of Education at Church House, at a cost of £6 (includes postage).

The Transforming Lives Toolkit (DVD) giving clergy and other Christian leaders a comprehensive set of resources to develop their own personal understanding whilst offering practical tools for use in their churches, will be sent free of charge to those placing an order.

A copy of Supporting Christians in Education and The Transforming Lives Toolkit may be found on the 'Clergy' shelf of the Resources Centre at Church House for those wishing to 'look before they buy'.
