Working with our Project Officer, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Assistant to join our Inspired North East team.  Building on our unique heritage, our aim is to secure sustainable futures for our churches as living places of worship as well as providing local communities with buildings to be used and enjoyed and places to welcome visitors.

The successful applicant will work across the Dioceses of Newcastle supporting local church project groups and congregations to develop the potential of their churches for a wide range of community uses, to address identified building repair and conservation needs, to develop integrated project plans which include wider development and heritage activities, to identify and secure resources and funding, and overall to enable a sustainable future for locally and nationally important historic church buildings.

You should be able to demonstrate some knowledge and experience of working in a planning, conservation or historic buildings or community development environment combined with an interest in historic churches.  Experience of running small projects is important together with an ability to build positive and constructive relationships with a variety of partners and interested groups.  The ability to enthuse others is a key attribute.

You should have empathy with the mission and ethos of the Church of England and be able to subscribe to the ethos and values of the Dioceses.

Based at Church House, North Shields, the role will require travel throughout the Diocese of Newcastle.
