The Dean and Chapter of Carlisle

and the Bishop of Newcastle

wish to appoint a

to the parish of Corbridge St Andrew w Halton and Newton Hall

Tynedale Village in Rural Northumberland

Corbridge Parish is in the beautiful Tyne Valley just 16 miles east of Newcastle and 4 miles west of the market town of Hexham. Parish includes the hamlets of Newton Hall and Halton Castle. The village draws over 40,000 visitors every year and yet has lost none of its heritage value and charm.

St Andrew’s Corbridge, an ancient parish church (grade 1 listed) is at the heart of the village and acts as a main cultural focus for a vibrant community life. Music is an important part of the parish’s life and it hosts a music festival every year. The worship is liturgical with a large and talented choir which both leads worship and performs regularly in other places. St Oswald’s is a chapel of ease at Halton three miles north of Corbridge which has a service once per month. There is a large and attractive vicarage some 6 minutes’ walk from St Andrew’s.

We are looking for an incumbent who is warm and compassionate, with the gift of listening and who is passionate about the local community, able to interact and communicate effectively across parish life. The person appointed will be skilled in ministering to the existing congregation, whilst exploring ways of growing new areas of church life. The PCC wish their new incumbent to make outreach with families and young people a priority. The skill to enable the gifts of others is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively and develop a ministry team where all can flourish. The person appointed should be able to preach and teach proficiently, connecting scriptures to everyday life, and encouraging individual growth in the Christian Faith.

If you are an experienced priest and excited by the prospect of a fulfilling ministry in the rural setting of West Northumberland then please do get in touch us! The church website is:
