Code of Fundraising Practice

How we fundraise is as important as the impact of the generous donations churches receive. The Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice sets out the principles that all charitable organisations including churches, should abide by when they are fundraising. This includes generosity or stewardship campaigns, weekly church collections or offerings, encouraging legacies, running fundraising events and taking donations online, in cash or via contactless units.

Following the Code's common-sense and best practice approach helps churches to fundraise well and be more successful with encouraging generosity. It also protects supporters, especially people in vulnerable circumstances, and those doing fundraising from potentially harmful fundraising practices. This short film about Giving from those in vulnerable circumstances provides a useful introduction and links to further information.
