Community Missioner, North Shields
Full-time (37.5 hours), 3 year temporary contract
£26,435 per annum
The work we are doing as part of the Impact strand of our Diocesan Strategy growing church bringing hope has reached an exciting stage and we are looking to appoint a Community Commissioner to join our team.
Working alongside stipendiary clergy, lay leaders, volunteers, community representatives and our Missioner team, the successful applicant will help us identify, develop and set up new expressions of Christian community and help us put mission and evangelism at the heart of church life.
They will support us through the delivery of a range of initiatives to engage communities with the life of the church and, by increasing the number and quality of ‘presence’ events in the parishes, will work towards developing a culture of invitation and proclamation.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of working with communities in a church context and of nurturing their discipleship and growth in faith. A passion for the Gospel combined with a high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence are key.
The ability to work with and alongside others (clergy, community leaders, lay leaders and volunteers) is important together with an ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making.
If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact
the Director of Discipleship & Ministry for Mission, the Revd Canon Ian Flintoft, on 0191 270 4100.
This post is offered on a full-time basis but we welcome applications from those wishing to explore a job share arrangement. Based in Tynemouth Deanery, the role will require some travel.
