Priest in Charge (half time) of the parishes of Holy Cross Haltwhistle and St Cuthbert’s Greenhead
Priest in Charge (half time) of the parishes of Holy Cross Haltwhistle and St Cuthbert’s Greenhead in Hexham Deanery
The benefice of Haltwhistle and Greenhead is in the Tyne Valley and on the west Northumberland border. In the midst of stunning scenery Haltwhistle with its grade one listed church building markets itself as the ‘centre of Britain’ and Greenhead is an increasingly popular tourist hub adjacent to some of the most remarkable parts of Hadrian’s Wall. There is a five bedroomed vicarage in Haltwhistle and a Church of England Primary School in Greenhead.
Both parishes are committed to growing in every respect and have a vision for creating a worshipping community of all ages. We are looking for a priest, in a half-time role, who will enjoy living, working and being involved in the benefice’s communities and support all that is changing for the good. Children’s and young people’s work is important to the two parishes and the new parish priest will have a leadership role to encourage all God’s people to be involved in learning for discipleship and discernment for ministry. A new mission and ministry leadership team is being set up together with other parishes in the Tyne Valley and along Hadrian’s Wall. We are therefore looking for collaborative working and team leadership skills which will be key to this role.
