The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a Priest in Charge (half time) to the Parish of Newcastle St John the Baptist.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a City Centre Parish in the Anglo-Catholic Tradition. St John the Baptist on Grainger Street is one of the historic Anglican Churches in the heart of the City of Newcastle Upon Tyne, with a strong choral tradition and active concern for social action.

The new priest will be a creative thinker and outward looking, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse community and able to help St John’s discern a renewed pattern of mission and ministry in the fast-changing context of the city centre and wider deanery. They will be a good teacher and pastor encouraging and inspiring all in prayer, discipleship and understanding of God’s word.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone rooted in a traditional Anglo-Catholic spirituality seeking to engage effectively with contemporary social issues and serving the vulnerable.
