Vicar, Blyth St Mary
The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a Vicar to the Parish of Blyth St Mary .
‘Behold, I am doing a new thing…’ (Isaiah 43.19).
Newcastle Diocese is seeking to respond to God’s call by developing new patterns and partnerships for mission and ministry and this post is building capacity for renewed mission in Blyth, which is undergoing urban regeneration. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and serve the renewal of mission in a town centre parish in the modern catholic tradition which is looking to reach out beyond the boundaries of the church building in an area of significant deprivation.
The role is ideal if you are someone ready for a strategic challenge and willing to seek fresh vision for God’s mission in the world, are attentive to the Spirit’s activity in our communities, can lead others in confident partnerships, and can nurture inspiring and imaginative worship where all are welcome.
As the new vicar, you will be a creative thinker and outward looking, with the ability to build relationships, develop teams and discern mission opportunities. You will be a good teacher and pastor encouraging and inspiring all in prayer, discipleship and understanding of God’s word. You will lead the parish in active collaboration with two neighbouring parishes with whom you will share a Children and Families Lay Missioner, a new missional partnership which is part of the diocesan vision of growing church bringing hope.
