Bishop’s Advisor on Climate Justice and the Environment
Mr Duncan Cox
Since moving to Newcastle in 1993, I’ve lived and worked in the city, becoming part of the Holy Trinity Church family in Jesmond. Professionally, I’m a chartered structural and civil engineer with an international consultancy, which has taken me abroad for short assignments.
I’m deeply passionate about sustainability, both in its practical application to the build environment and in driving the cultural and communicative shifts needed to enable real change. My role as Bishop’s Advisor is rooted in theology and involves supporting the Bishop with guidance, resources and strategies related to sustainability and climate justice. I felt called to this role because I believe that we can make a meaningful difference in caring for the world God has entrusted to us – especially when we act together in faith and purpose.
Bishop’s Advisor for Deliverance Ministry
The Revd Anthony O’Grady
I am Vicar of Woodhorn with Newbiggin. As well as being a parish priest I hold various other responsibilities in the community and the Diocese, including that of Bishop's Advisor for Deliverance Ministry.
Deliverance Ministry focuses on spiritual wholeness and wellbeing. It is rooted in the healing ministry of Jesus and his disciples. The very nature of deliverance ministry means that we are often called to those who are experiencing a sense of spiritual disturbance or unease. In my capacity I convene a team of specially trained clergy and other professionals who offer pastoral support and guidance to clergy and to those in their care, who are concerned about spiritual welfare.
Bishop’s Advisor for Spirituality
The Revd John Vilaseca-Bruch
I have been vicar of St Paul’s Whitley Bay since 2019 and Bishop’s Advisor for Spirituality since 2025. I was born and brought up in Spain but twelve years ago I moved to the North East of England. I was ordained in Newcastle Diocese, where I have been serving since. It is a privilege to minister in this part of the country where the Northern Saints began to spread the Gospel of Christ.
As Bishop’s Advisor for Spirituality, I offer support to our wonderful community of Diocesan spiritual accompaniers and directors. I’m also responsible for discerning and finding spiritual directors for those who wish to find a new spiritual director/accompanier. In partnership with St. Antony’s Priory (Durham), we offer training to both lay and ordained people who feel called to minister as spiritual directors/accompaniers. This role aims to promote spirituality, discernment, walking alongside our sisters and brothers and above all, a life of prayer devoted to God.
Bishop’s Advisor for Women’s Ministry
The Revd Dr Sarah Moon
I am Priest in Charge of Killingworth Parish in North Tyneside and was ordained in 2016. I have never had a career as such, rather have done a number of interesting roles including teaching, project coordination for a heritage tourism project, fundraising for an educational drama group and twelve years as Regional Coordinator for Christian Aid.
I was invited to the role of Bishop’s Advisor for Woman’s Ministry in Spring 2025 and the aim of the role is to support women at all ages and stages of their ordained ministry within Newcastle Diocese. The role is constantly developing as we seek to address issues which predominantly affect women in ministry, and in doing so can ensure all may flourish in their ordained calling. I seek to be a source of support and advocacy for women in ministry, and am always happy to meet up over coffee and cake.
