The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time priest to be Priest in Charge to the Benefice of Wallsend St Peter and St Luke who can bring energy and vision to the worshipping life and community outreach of the two worship centres.
Wallsend is a small town to the east of Newcastle City Centre with a proud heritage and a large, lively, mixed community. The town has historical links back to Hadrian’s Wall and a more recent industrial heritage of mining and shipbuilding, with good retail and leisure facilities and excellent transport links.
The congregations are looking to continue to deepen their faith, engage with the community and grow their participation in mission and ministry. Key to this role is continuing close links with the C of E primary school during a time of development there, along with the strengthening of other community partnerships There is also a need to increase capacity to engage with the different challenges and opportunities in the area. The parish is under the extended episcopal care of the Bishop of Beverley.
Is God calling you to Wallsend - as a priest with a vision for the church as an inspiring and attractive community of hope and joy, a partner in community development and with a passion to see people grow in faith and confidence.
