Last autumn saw the start of a brand new diocesan wide event, Newcastle Diocese Generosity Week, which allowed us the opportunity to spend time collectively focusing on nurturing and encouraging generosity. For eight consecutive days we took time to deepen our understanding of God’s generosity towards us and learned how we can respond by living more generously in our day to day lives.
Generosity Week returns from Sunday 25th September, giving us another opportunity to;
- Inspire and encourage a culture and lifestyle of generosity all year round
- Celebrate the everyday acts of generosity we see in our churches and communities
- Live out our core diocesan value of being generous with God’s transforming gifts - a value which underpins our vision for Growing Church Bringing Hope
- Give thanks to all who give so generously, enabling mission and ministry to flourish in the Diocese of Newcastle
Generosity Week 2022 will have a distinctly local flavour! Over the 8 day period, we’ll be taking you on a virtual tour of the Diocese to uncover stories of different kinds of generosity, all of which we hope will inspire a wave of generous living and giving. The Generous Giving Team in Newcastle will also be bringing you a daily bitesize reflection on generosity and themed generosity challenges.
Preparing for Generosity Week
Please take some time to explore the full range of resources available for Generosity Week 2022 by visiting our Generosity Week Resource Hub. You’ll also need to register to receive our daily email during Generosity Week to give you direct access to all content for the theme of generosity each day.
Come along to one of our two Cornerstone Workshops running in September, to explore ways of financing the mission and vision of your church. These sessions, which are being led by National Giving Ministry Adviser, Revd Trevor Marshall alongside the Generous Giving Team, provide a great foundation for running a Generosity Week. Email Joanne Christie to find out more.
The Generous Giving team have created a short "Overview and Guide to Generosity Week. This can be used to help facilitate discussion and promote Generosity Week to PCCs and other relevant meetings and groups. You can also contact the Generous Giving Team who are available to come and talk to individuals and groups about Generosity Week and give ideas about how to get involved.
