A message from Bishop Christine

It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that Canon Carol Wolstenholme died today in hospital, where she was being treated for cancer. Her illness had progressed with shocking speed. In her last few days she was accompanied by family, friends, and those who had care of her, surrounded with love and prayer, and died peacefully.

Carol has served our Diocese for many years, in so many ways, not least as a Reader, Chair of the House Laity, and a member of the General Synod, and will be known to many of you. She has deeply valued your prayers and support, and I know that she had a very real sense of being held by God throughout the last weeks of her life.

Details of Carol’s funeral will follow in due course, and we pray now for Carol, and her family and friends as we grieve her passing, give thanks for her life, and entrust her to God’s keeping.

May Carol rest in peace, and rise in glory.

+ Christine
