On Sunday 29 June 2025, during the Ordination of Deacons service at Newcastle Cathedral, Bishop Helen-Ann and Bishop Metlha signed a new companion agreement.
Bellingham Deanery Lent Collection raises £3,582 for Children North-East, a charity which helps transform the lives of babies, young people and families across our region.
Generous churchgoers from Holy Cross Fenham gave up unwanted items from their houses during Lent – which will now be donated to charitable causes.
During Lent, local school children took part in an engaging morning of hands-on activities to learn more about the events of Holy Week.
A group of clergy from our rural parishes recently met at St. Cuthbert’s, Hebron to pray, learn and eat together.
The Bishop of Newcastle is delighted to announce that Chris Elder has agreed to be our Diocesan Secretary for an initial period of 12 months to give us stability during a time of change and transition, particularly with the establishment of a new safeguarding team.
This week, Hexham Abbey welcomed licensed clergy from the diocese for a two-day retreat, led by Canon Dr Paula Gooder, Chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral.
