Cathedral hosts wonderful welcome service

First published on: 23rd September 2021

A joyful welcome service took place in September to formally collate and install our new Archdeacon of Northumberland.

Revd Rachel Wood, previously Vicar at St Mary Monkseaton and then Acting Archdeacon of Northumberland, was appointed Archdeacon in May by Bishop Christine.

Our recently transformed Newcastle Cathedral provided the stunning backdrop for the special occasion which also included the welcome and installation of Bishop Mark, Bishop of Berwick; the Venerable Catherine Sourbut Groves, Archdeacon of Lindisfarne; and Revd Canon Rob Saner-Haigh, Director of Mission and Ministry.

Bishop Mark, Catherine and Rob have already been formally authorised for their ministry and active in their roles for some time, but had their installations delayed due to Covid restrictions and the re-ordering work at the cathedral.

Please pray for Bishop Mark, Rachel, Catherine, and Rob and for their ministries.

The Welcome, Collation and Installation Service is available to watch here.
