Racial Justice Sunday 2026

Racial Justice Sunday is an opportunity for churches to come together to reflect on the importance of racial justice and to celebrate the beauty of our differences. It reminds us that everyone is loved equally by God, and it calls us to stand against racism, treat one another with respect, and work together for a more just and welcoming world.

Established by the Methodist Church in 1995 in response to the racially motivated murder of teenager Stephen Lawrence, Racial Justice Sunday takes place on the second Sunday in February.

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Galatians 5:14

Racial Justice Sunday 2026 will take place on Sunday 8 February and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI) have created a range of resources based on the theme ‘Love your neighbour’.

These resources will allow churches to explore what it really means to love our neighbour as Jesus did, particularly in the current political landscape, and help us work together towards a world where everyone belongs and is loved and valued for who they are. The resources are available to download freely from the Churches Together in Britain and Ireland website and include:

  • Worship materials
  • Readings
  • Hymns
  • Prayers
  • Sermon ideas
  • Reflection activities
